Stop Syngenta’s bee-killing pesticide plan

Stop Syngenta’s bee-killing pesticide plan

The United States has already lost more than half of its managed honeybee colonies -- and the problem could soon get much worse.

Swiss agribusiness giant Syngenta, which is one of Monsanto’s biggest competitors, just filed paperwork with the EPA requesting permission to increase the amount of the bee-killing pesticide thiamethoxam it uses on alfalfa, corn, barley, and wheat crops by up to 40,000%.1 If approved, this proposal would be absolutely devastating for bees and other pollinators.

The EPA has opened a crucial public comment period to take feedback on Syngenta’s bee-killing proposal – but we only have a few days to flood the EPA with comments and save the bees.
Tell the EPA: Reject Syngenta’s bee-killing pesticide proposal. Submit a public comment before the October 6 deadline.

A growing number of scientists place the blame for theEnvironmental Protection Agency on neonicotinoid pesticides, including Syngenta’s thiamethoxam, which suppress bees’ immune systems and make them more susceptible deadly viruses and bacterial diseases.

That’s why governments and individuals around the globe are taking action to save bees and other pollinators by restricting or prohibiting the use of neonicotinoids. In Europe, after a major report found that these pesticides posed “high acute risks” to bees, the European Commission enacted a two-year ban in order to conduct further studies.2 And just a few weeks ago, Canadian beekeepers filed a $400 million lawsuit targeting pesticide manufacturers Syngenta and Bayer for their role in contributing to the deaths of honeybees.3

But here in the United States, the Environmental Protection Agency plans to continue studying the issue until 2019 before taking action, despite the fact that bee populations continue to collapse.4 Bees can't afford to wait for the EPA to get its act together -- and neither can we.

Syngenta’s new proposal to radically increase neonicotinoid pesticide spraying could be a death sentence for bees. We need your help to build massive pressure on the EPA to reject it.

Submit a public comment before the October 6 deadline telling the EPA to reject Syngenta’s bee-killing pesticide proposal.

You might not expect to find a vegetarian in world championship body-building competitions. But Andreas Cahling, the Swedish body builder who won the 1980 Mr. International title, is a vegetarian, as has been for over ten years of highest level international competition. One magazine reported that Cahling's "showings at the Mr. Universe competitions, and at the professional body-building world championships, give insiders the feeling he may be the next Arnold Schwarzenegger."

Another fellow who is not exactly a weakling is Stan Price. He holds the world record for the bench press in his weight class. Stan Price is a vegetarian. Roy Hilligan is another gentleman in whose face you probably wouldn't want to kick sand. Among his many titles is the coveted Mr. America crown. Roy Hilligan is a vegetarian.

The Rise and Fall of the Protein Empire

Not all authorities agree on a precise figure for our daily needs of protein, but their calculations do fall within a specific range. It is a range that runs from a low estimate of two and a half percent of our total daily calories up to a high estimate of over eight percent. The figures at the high end end include built-in safety margins, and are not "minimum" allowances, but rather "recommended" allowances.

If we ate nothing but wheat (which is 17% protein), or oatmeal (15%), or pumpkin (15%0, we could easily have more than enough protein. If we ate nothing but cabbage (22%), we'd have over double the maximum we might need.

In fact, if we ate nothing but the lowly potato (11% protein) we would still be getting enough protein. This fact does not mean potatoes are a particularly high protein source. They are not. Almost all plant foods provide more. What it does show, however, is just how low our protein needs really are.

There have been occasions in which people have been forced to satisfy their entire nutritional needs with potatoes and water alone. Individuals who have lived for lengthy periods of time under those conditions showed no signs whatsoever of protein deficiency, though other vitamin deficiencies have occurred.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, the virtual symbol of male muscular development, says in his book, Arnold's Body Building for Men:

"Kids nowadays...tend to go overboard when they discover body building and eat diets consisting of 50 to 70% protein--something I believe to be totally unnecessary... (In) my formula for basic good eating: eat about one gram of protein for every two pounds of body weight."

The Effect of Cannabis on Pregnant Women & Newborns

The Effect of Cannabis on Pregnant Women & Newborns

cannabis-pregnant
It’s almost too taboo to discuss: pregnant women & marijuana. It’s a dirty little secret for women, particularly during the harrowing first trimester, who turn to cannabis for relief from nausea and stress. Pregnant women in Jamaica use marijuana regularly to relieve nausea, as well as to relieve stress and depression, often in the form of a tea or tonic.

In the late 1960s, grad student Melanie Dreher was chosen by her professors to perform an ethnographic study on marijuana use in Jamaica to observe and document its usage and its consequences among pregnant women. Dreher studied 24 Jamaican infants exposed to marijuana prenatally and 20 infants that were not exposed. Her work evolved into the book Women and Cannabis: Medicine, Science and Sociology, part of which included her field studies.
Most North American studies have shown marijuana use can cause birth defects and developmental problems. Those studies did not isolate marijuana use, however, lumping cannabis with more destructive substances ranging from alcohol and tobacco to meth and heroin. In Jamaica, Dreher found a culture that policed its own ganja intake and considers its use spiritual. For the herb’s impact when used during pregnancy, she handed over reports utilizing the Brazelton Scale, the highly recognized neonatal behavioral assessment that evaluates behavior.

The profile identifies the baby’s strengths, adaptive responses and possible vulnerabilities. The researchers continued to evaluate the children from the study up to 5 years old. The results showed no negative impact on the children, on the contrary they seemed to excel. Plenty of people did not like that answer, particularly her funders, the National Institute on Drug Abuse. They did not continue to flip the bill for the study and did not readily release its results.

“March of Dimes was supportive,” Dreher says. “But it was clear that NIDA was not interested in continuing to fund a study that didn’t produce negative results. I was told not to resubmit. We missed an opportunity to follow the study through adolescence and through adulthood.” Now dean of nursing at Rush University with degrees in nursing, anthropology and philosophy, plus a Ph.D. in anthropology from Columbia University, Dreher did not have experience with marijuana before she shipped off for Jamaica.

She understands that medical professionals shy from doing anything that might damage any support of their professionalism, despite marijuana’s proven medicinal effects, particularly for pregnant women. Dr. Melanie Dreher’s study isn’t the first time Jamaican ganja smoking was subjected to a scientific study. One of the most exhausting studies is Ganja in Jamaica—A Medical Anthropological Study of Chronic Marijuana Use by Vera Rubin and Lambros Comitas, published in 1975.
Unfortunately for the National Institute of Mental Health’s Center for Studies of Narcotic and Drug Abuse, the medical anthropological study concluded:
Despite its illegality, ganja use is pervasive, and duration and frequency are very high; it is smoked over a longer period in heavier quantities with greater THC potency than in the U.S. without deleterious social or psychological consequences [our emphasis].

Tell Congress: Stop Blocking the EPA from Protecting Our Clean Water

Congress: Stop Blocking the EPA from Protecting Our Clean Water

Right now, corporate lobbyists for building construction, oil and gas, and factory farm interests are putting pressure on Members of Congress to block the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Army Corps of Engineers’ efforts to restore long-standing protections under the Clean Water Act.

The EPA and the Army Corps’ proposed Clean Water Rule would clarify which streams and wetlands are – and which ones are not – protected under the Clean Water Act. Despite thirty years of comprehensive protections under the law, two Supreme Court decisions in 2001 and 2006 made it unclear whether small streams and wetlands were still protected. This leaves the small streams and wetlands that store floodwaters, filter pollution, and contribute to the drinking water of 117 million Americans, vulnerable to destruction.

This week, House members will likely vote on H.R. 5078, a bill to block EPA from finalizing the proposed Clean Water Rule, rather than letting the public comment period finish. It’s wrong for Congress to shut down the public comment period on the Clean Water rule. This silences YOUR voice and the voice of millions of people who depend upon clean water for their livelihood.

Chipotle Restaurants to Remove All GMO Ingredients- Stock Prices Soar over 30%

We decided we’d rather try to avoid GMO ingredients until perhaps the science is more clear...

The popular Mexican casual food chain Chipotle Mexican Grill saw its stock prices soar on Friday by more than 15 percent, a day after representatives from the company said they would likely need to increase prices to cover supply changes to almost entirely non-GMO items for its menu.

Founder and CEO Steve Ellis said that a price increase somewhere in the 3-5% range should be expected as the company continues to search for non-GMO alternatives to its current cooking oils, corn flour and corn starch in its products. No date was given this week as to when the shift to more non-GMO ingredients would be completed in 2014, however.

Earlier this year Ellis said, “We decided we’d rather try to avoid GMO ingredients until perhaps the science is more clear,” said Ells earlier this year. “There are some things that we just can’t, today, get non-GMO.”

But the company, despite its impressive size (which has been growing due to strong customer support) has remained committed to resolving customer concerns over the GMO ingredients and will continue to pursue more alternatives.

They are also looking for more sources of antibiotic-free and hormone-free meats that are not from animals fed GMOs as well. Ellis added that it’s especially hard to ensure on a large scale that animals are not fed GMOs. If that’s the case, customers may want to choose vegetarian options when patronizing the restaurant to be sure they will be able to avoid GMOs.

Chipotle Stock Price Soars Even on News of Non-GMO Price Increase

Despite the possible price increases, stock of the company soared on Friday, with a closing rate of $510. The stock had traded in the low $200 range earlier in the year due to economic fears, but it has persevered and shown that food made from real ingredients (current GMOs notwithstanding, but at least they’re working to fix that) at a higher price can work.

Chipotle has also been spurred by an animated Internet commercial that went viral called ‘The Sacrecrow.’ You can watch the video below.

Kellogg's: Remove GMOs from your products!

We sent a box of Froot Loops to a lab for genetic testing and found the corn and soy are 100% Roundup Ready GMO. Sugar is also a Roundup Ready GMO. Roundup Ready means the GMOs are sprayed with Roundup (glyphosate), a toxic weed killer, which is absorbed by the plant. Glyphosate was also patented by Monsanto as an antibiotic in 2011. Not only is the corn in Froot Loops sprayed with Roundup, but it is a pesticide in its own right, registered with and regulated by the EPA. Every cell of the plant produces pesticides called Bt toxins. When rootworms bite into it, their stomachs rupture and they die. How disturbing is it that Kellogg’s is feeding children pesticides & antibiotics, without their parents’ knowledge or consent?

GMOs (genetically modified organisms) were released into our food supply without independent long-term studies to prove that they are safe. The FDA doesn't oversee the nature or extent of testing these GMOs undergo. Instead, they allow the chemical companies that develop GMOs and profit from their sale to determine whether they are safe. The companies that create GMOs (Monsanto, Dow, Syngenta & others) are the same companies that created DDT and Agent Orange, now banned, and which cause serious generational disease and birth defects. There are increasing numbers of independent studies showing that GMO crops and the toxic pesticides associated with GMOs can have negative multi-generational human health and environmental consequences.

Kellogg's spent $1,012,552 on media propaganda in California & Washington to defeat voter ballot initiatives that would have required the labeling of GMO foods. Kellogg's doesn't want Americans to know that their products contain pesticide producing, Roundup soaked GMOs.

America wants you to make ALL Kellogg's products GMO-free, like you do in Europe and countries that require GMOs to be labeled. We want accountability by third party verification. Kellogg's: Remove GMOs!

Hemp-Seed Eating Village in China Holds Oldest, Healthiest People in the World

by Christina Sarich
Natural Society

While there is a man in Bolivia said to be the oldest living person in the world, at 123 years of age, a village in China is boasting ages far older than the global average, and few suffer from any health problems. Scientists believe the secret is in their diet, which actually includes lots of hempseed.

It also helps that the water and air in Bama Yao, China are exceptionally clean, and that their food contains noticeably less fat, animal proteins, salt, and sugar than let’s say, the standard American diet. But according to some experts, the villagers’ consumption of a superfood high in essential fatty acids (omega 3 and 6) is also part of the reason they live so long. Their primary source of receiving these fatty acids is through a diet rich in hempseed.

Life expectancy in Bama Yao is well over 100 years for its inhabitants, one of only five places on the planet where people can expect to live so healthfully for so long. Centenarian hot spots, called ‘blue zones,’ include Sardinia, Italy, Okinawa just off Japan, and Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica. Among these rare places, there is a commonality of lifestyle habits: they eat a plant-based diet, often with several super foods, invest heavily in family, get moderate exercise daily, and have a sense of faith and purpose in their lives.

It is well known that plant sterols and antioxidants can help reduce the risk of many cancers including breast and colon cancer, as well as control sugar levels in diabetics. Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids found in hemp seed are also full of plant-based protein, vitamins A, E, and D, and many B vitamins – all important antioxidants that help eliminate free radicals in the body.

Hemp seed is also rich in calcium, dietary fiber, and iron. The high amount of soluble fiber in hemp seed helps to prevent over-eating since it makes you feel full, longer, and it can help keep the digestive system healthy.

Furthermore, omega 3 and 6 ratios that are in balance also contribute to a healthy brain as we age. Omega 6 polyunsaturated fats are used by the body to make certain hormones and signaling molecules. Roughly speaking, the omega 6′s are the precursors for many of the molecules that make up our body’s inflammatory response. As an example – the omega 6 linoleic acid is a precursor for many molecules, among them the prostaglandins that the enzymes COX-1 and COX-2 work on. But these must be balanced with Omega 3s or we have some highly inflammatory chemicals running rampant in our body.

In hemp seed oil, the ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 is about 3:1. This favorable ratio helps to compensate, at least partially, for the general over-consumption of omega-6 fatty acids in the typical American diet, and likely leads to the overall anti-inflammatory health benefits that villagers in Bama Yao enjoy.

Tell Congress: Don't prohibit GMO labeling

Americans deserve to know what's in their food

We're building a political movement that can affect real change in Washington around critical food policy issues. By keeping up the pressure on our electeds and making our voices heard, we can help make sure they vote for Americans' health—not corporate profits.

Join Food Policy Action by taking action against the DARK Act, a bill introduced by Representative Mike Pompeo—whose #1 political contributor is the Koch Brothers—that would prevent labeling of genetically engineered food.

GMO Foods are extremely new, and as such the possible long-term effects are still unclear. Consumers should be able to play it safe when shopping and preparing meals for their families, by choosing non-GMO products.

More than two dozen states have GMO labeling bills pending this year, but this legislation would preempt states from passing any of these bills.

Big industrial agriculture companies like Monsanto have a big financial stake in their proprietary genetically modified crops—but it’s time for Congress to vote for what’s right.

Add your name to show that you stand with the 93% of Americans who support labeling genetically modified food.

Anxiety and sleeping pills 'linked to dementia'

The class of drugs known as benzodiazepines is mainly used to treat anxiety or insomnia

Long-term use of pills for anxiety and sleep problems may be linked to Alzheimer's, research suggests.

A study of older Canadian adults found that past benzodiazepine use for three months or more was linked to an increased risk (up to 51%) of dementia.

NHS guidelines say the drugs should be used for eight to 12 weeks at most.

The French-Canadian team says while the link is not definitive, it is another warning that treatments should not exceed three months.

"Benzodiazepine use is associated with an increased risk of Alzheimer's disease," lead researcher, Sophie Billioti de Gage of the University of Bordeaux, France, and colleagues wrote in the BMJ.

The study involved about 2,000 cases of Alzheimer's disease in adults aged over 66 living in Quebec. All had been prescribed benzodiazepines.

They were compared with about 7,000 healthy people of the same age living in the same community.
While an increased risk was found in those on benzodiazepines, the nature of the link was unclear.

Dr Eric Karran, director of research at Alzheimer's Research UK, said: "This study shows an apparent link between the use of benzodiazepines and Alzheimer's disease although it's hard to know the underlying reason behind the link.

"One limitation of this study is that benzodiazepines treat symptoms such as anxiety and sleep disturbance, which may also be early indicators of Alzheimer's disease."

Long-term use

Prof Guy Goodwin, president of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology, said the findings "could mean that the drugs cause the disease, but is more likely to mean that the drugs are being given to people who are already ill".

Dr James Pickett, head of research at the Alzheimer's Society, said with 1.5 million people in the UK being prescribed benzodiazepines at any one time, "evidence that their long-term use increases the risk of dementia is significant, and raises questions about their use".

Benzodiazepines are used to treat anxiety disorders and insomnia.

Despite published guidance on their appropriate use for short-term management, inappropriate prescribing of the drugs is still a concern.

Experts are calling for better monitoring of side-effects, particularly in older adults.

Is there a cure for HIV or AIDS?

There is no functional cure for HIV or AIDS, meaning that there is no procedure or medication which has been scientifically proven to reliably eliminate the virus from a person's body or reverse the damage to the immune system.

There have been many advances in HIV treatments and therapies in recent years that have dramatically improved the quality of life of people with HIV, and more people are living longer with HIV than we used to think was possible. There are also people whose bodies naturally suppress the virus without medication (referred to as "elite controllers"), though they are rare, and a lack of symptoms should not be interpreted to mean that you do not need medication if you are known to have HIV.

One well-studied, but not yet recreated case of a person who has been 'functionally cured' of HIV is Timothy Brown, also known as "the Berlin Patient". You can read about the science behind the Berlin Patient's case on our blog, BETA. The term 'functionally cured' means that the patient doesn't have to take medications, and there's so little of the virus in their body that they aren't being affected by it and can't infect anyone else. It's not 100% clear whether or not this will stay true in the long term.

In March 2013, a second well-studied case of a functional cure was announced - a toddler who was infected with HIV at birth appears to have been functionally cured.

Marijuana May Stop The Spread Of HIV, Study Finds

Marijuana has long been used to effectively treat symptoms associated with HIV, such as chronic pain and weight loss. But a growing body of research suggests the plant may be able to stop the spread of the disease itself.

Adding to these findings is a Louisiana State University study published last week in the journal AIDS Research and Human Retroviruses. For 17 months, scientists administered a daily dose of THC, an active ingredient in cannabis, to monkeys infected with an animal form of the virus. Over the course of that period, scientists found that damage to immune tissue in the primates' stomachs, one of the most common areas in the body for HIV infection to spread, decreased.

"These findings reveal novel mechanisms that may potentially contribute to cannabinoid-mediated disease modulation," Dr. Patricia Molina, the study's lead author, wrote. The report goes on to explain that while HIV spreads by infecting and killing off immune cells, the monkeys that received the daily THC treatments maintained higher levels of healthy cells.

Similar research spearheaded by Molina in 2011 found that infected monkeys treated with THC had a better chance of surviving. And a report published in 2012 pointed to evidence that marijuana-like compounds can fight HIV in late-stage AIDS patients.

Last year, an oncologist from the United Kingdom found that marijuana compounds can kill cancer cells in leukemia patients, and scientists at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco have conducted research that suggests those compounds can also effectively combat other forms of aggressive cancer.

Selenium Supplements Add Punch to HIV Fight

HIV patients now have a surprising and simple way to help keep their infection under control: daily doses of a mineral called selenium.

Daily selenium supplements seem to "tame" the HIV virus and strengthen the immune system, according to research published in today's issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine.

The supplement isn't a substitute for antiretroviral therapy (ART) medications, though. It should be taken in addition to standard therapies.

"Selenium alone cannot lower virus enough to improve health and cannot be substituted for the proven effects of ART," said David Pauza, a professor and assistant director of the Institute of Human Virology at the University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute in Baltimore.

Patients should consider using selenium as an additional part of their normal treatment regimen, said study principle investigator Barry Hurwitz, a professor of psychology and medicine at the University of Miami in Florida.

Study Finds Selenium Suppresses Viral Load and Boosts Immune System Cells

Researchers from the University of Miami conducted a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial of selenium supplements in 262 patients with HIV. Patients were randomly divided into two groups to take either a daily capsule containing 200 micrograms of high-selenium yeast or a daily sugar pill.

Nine months later, each patient underwent a comprehensive physical exam, and researchers realized that the selenium pills had made a real difference in the health of the HIV patients who had taken them.

Patients taking daily selenium supplements had lower levels of the virus in their bloodstream and increased immune cell counts compared to patients who took a placebo pill.

"Selenium is a lot like a lion tamer in the circus -- it's a virus tamer," Hurwitz said.

Antioxidant Powers May Give Selenium Strength Against HIV

Scientists aren't sure how selenium works to tame the virus. One theory is that selenium's antioxidant powers enable it to repair damage to the immune system. A stronger immune system is better able to fight off viruses like HIV.

Given these promising early findings, doctors are now calling for more research to confirm these results and to determine whether taking selenium leads to other benefits, such as a longer life span for people with HIV.

Alternative Approaches
The herbs with antiviral properties serve as the supporting therapies for the patients with HIV. These herbs show an anti-HIV activity in test tubes.
The Epigallocatechin-3-gallate element in green tea, for example, inhibits the replication of the virus thus providing the antiviral actions. Similar actions are noted with the chemicals in olive leaves.
Ginseng is maintaining the CD4+ T cell counts in HIV-1 infected patients and some studies have shown that it has a potential to increase them, too.
Viola yedoensis, andrographis paniculata, lithospermum erythrorhizon, and alternanthera philoxeroides are also beneficial in reducing the percentage of infected cells. Trichosanthin (TCS) is an active protein component isolated from Tian-Hua-Fen. It has been shown to inhibit HIV infection and has been used in the clinical treatment of AIDS, too.
The virus-related conditions are handled with the herbs of corresponding properties: ginkgo is used for the HIV-related dementia, greater celandine – for Kaposi's sarcoma, aloe vera – for skin problems, and lemon balm solves the problems with herpes simplex and insomnia.

Coconut Oil

Can coconut oil reduce the viral load of HIV-AIDS patients? "Initial trials have confirmed that coconut oil does have an anti-viral effect and can beneficially reduce the viral load of HIV patients", University of the Philippines' Emeritus professor of pharmocology Dr. Conrato S. Dayrit said.

A minimum of 50 ml of coconut oil would contain 20 to 25 grams of lauric acid, which indicates that the oil is metabolized in the body to release monolaurin which is an antibiotic and an anti-viral agent. Among the saturated fatty acids, lauric acid has the maximum anti-viral activity, he said. Based on this research, the first clinical trial using monolaurin as monotherapy on some of the HIV patients was conducted recently. Dr. Dayrit's conclusions after the study: "This initial trial confirmed the anecdotal reports that coconut oil does have an anti-viral effect and can beneficially reduce the viral load of HIV patients. The positive anti-viral action was seen not only with the monoglyceride of lauric acid but with coconut oil itself. This indicates that coconut oil is metabolized to monoglyceride forms of C-8, C-10, C- 12 to which it must owe its anti-pathogenic activity."

The entire results of Dr. Dayrit's study can be found here in PDF format.

On July 19, 1995, Dr. Mary Enig, noted biochemist and nutritionist, was quoted in an article published in The HINDU, India's National Newspaper as stating that coconut oil is converted by the body into "Monolaurin" a fatty acid with anti-viral properties that might be useful in the treatment of AIDS. The staff reporter for The HINDU wrote about Enig's presentation at a press conference in Kochi and wrote the following:

"There was an instance in the US in which an infant tested HIV positive had become HIV negative. That it was fed with an infant formula with a high coconut oil content gains significance in this context and at present an effort was on to find out how the 'viral load' of an HIV infected baby came down when fed a diet that helped in the generation of Monolaurin in the body."

The reporter commented on Enig's observations that "Monolaurin helped in inactivating other viruses such as measles, herpes, vesicular stomatitis and Cytomegalovirus (CMV) and that research undertaken so far on coconut oil also indicated that it offered a certain measure of protection against cancer-inducing substances."

Enig stated in an article published in the Indian Coconut Journal, Sept. 1995 that Monolaurin, of which the precursor is lauric acid, disrupted the lipid membranes of envelope viruses and also inactivated bacteria, yeast and fungi. She wrote: "Of the saturated fatty acids, lauric acid has greater anti-viral activity than either caprylic acid (C-10) or myristic acid (C-14). The action attributed to Monolaurin is that of solubilizing the lipids ..in the envelope of the virus causing the disintegration of the virus envelope."

Being HIV positive myself, and having things very under control, there are a couple of concerns I have and questions. The Virgin Coconut Oil? Absolutely amazing stuff! It has given me back the energy and feeling good that the antivirals can knock out of you. Bill from The Coconut Diet Forums in answer to someone else's request for information on coconut oil and AIDS.

Dr. Mary Enig has also written a book entitled "Nutrients and Foods in AIDS," and one of the chapters is published on her website here. (Frequently unavailable - if so try at a later date)

In a July 1997 newsletter entitled "Keep Hope Alive" an interview with Chris Dafoe was recorded. Chris Dafoe of Cloverdale, IN who, based on his lab numbers, thought the end was near in September, 1996. His HIV viral load was over 600,000, CD4 count was 10 and CD8 at 300. He prepaid his funeral and decided to take his last vacation in the jungles of South America with an Indian tribe in the Republic of Surinam. Around October 14, 1996, he began eating daily a dish of cooked coconut which was prepared by the local Indians. By Dec. 27th, 1996, a mere 2 and 1/2 months later, his viral load was at non-detectable levels and he had gained 32 lbs and was feeling great. He had some other people he knew with HIV try using coconuts in their diet, and they experienced the same results. The entire interview is recorded here.

Another advantage of coconut oil for AIDs patients is the ability of the medium chain fatty acids to be absorbed more readily in a weakened immune system. A study done in 1997 at the University of Alabama showed that AIDs patients absorbed nutritional formulas better when medium chain fatty acids like those found in coconut oil were added, while long chain fatty acids were not tolerated well when they were added to the formulas.1

A woman named Betty who buys Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil uses it in her ministry to the sick. She shares the following story of her friend with HIV that wishes to remain anonymous:

My friend B... is an HIV patient. He was dying in the hospital for 3 years and his body was covered with acne. There was also one dollar size boil on his left hip. When I got my first order of Virgin Coconut Oil , I gave him a quart of the oil to try. The result was amazing! After my friend took it for less than 2 weeks, the acne disappeared. The big boil on his hip started to heal and at this time is completely gone. After more than a month on coconut oil, his skin is now baby silk. You would think he is a different person. His recent blood test showed great improvement. The helper cells ( T- cells) which were at level 60 are now at a higher level of 608 after about one and a half months of taking the oil consistently. He is taking the minimum amount of 3.5 tablespoons per day. The viral load is now down to 50. That was almost on the 100 level before he used the oil. My friend is not completely healed yet but he has come a long way from where he was before because of this amazing oil. I will keep on introducing this amazing oil to my friends!

In 2009 a study2 was conducted at the University of Minnesota on the effectiveness of glycerol monolaurate (or monolaurin, a derivative of coconut oil) to protect women from being infected with the AIDS virus through their infected husbands. The monolaurin compound appeared to stop inflammation and helped keep away the cells the AIDS virus usually infects. "Even if it was only 60 percent effective, such a gel could prevent 2.5 million HIV cases over three years," researchers said. The entire Reuters article is here.

Was diagnosed Hiv+ 6 months ago. I started using VCO (3 tablespoons, three times a day) 2 months ago. Viral load went down from 15,500 to 6,000. CD4 count went up from 615 to 705. I am obviously very excited about these results. Nicola - South Africa, reported on The Coconut Diet Forums

Bitter Melon

Bitter melon, also known as Momordica charantia, may provide antiviral and immune support, both of which are important to fight HIV and other infections that can weaken the body and worsen symptoms. A dose of 200 mg taken two to three times per day may be helpful, according to UMMC. However, you may require higher doses for HIV or AIDS, and you should consult your doctor about proper dosing with this supplement.

Green Tea

Green tea may provide your body with immune effects. Green tea contains antioxidants, substances that help fight viruses and other foreign agents that invade your body and cause cellular damage and illness. Some research has indicated that an ingredient in green tea called epigallocatechin may help inhibit an HIV infection, according to UMMC. For antioxidant and immune-boosting effects, UMMC recommends a caffeine-free dose of 250 to 500 mg if you have HIV. The leaf of green tea can also be used to make tea.

Cat's Claw

Cat's claw can offer your body immune support and protection from viruses. Therefore, it may be of benefit if you are infected with the HIV virus since it can boost your ability to fight this infection and protect against further infections. UMMC recommends an extract of 20 mg three times per day.

MULTIVITAMIN:

Research indicates that many people with AIDS have deficiencies of several nutrients. One study found that HIV-infected people who took a multivitamin/mineral supplement every day experienced a slower onset of AIDS than those who did not.

ALPHA LIPOIC ACID (ALA):

Preliminary evidence suggests that alpha lipoid acid (ALA) may be helpful in managing HIV. ALA is a powerful antioxidant that raises levels of glutathione in the body, an amino acid that is crucial to maintaining health immune-system function. ALA may also curb the replication of HIV by slowing the replication process.

VITAMIN C:

According to a 1998 study, Vitamin C has the antioxidant potential to minimize cell damage and reduce the overall amount of HIV in the body. Injections of Vitamin C in extremely high doses seem to hinder the growth of the HIV virus.

NOTE!
I'm only uploading FingerprintDIVAS videos, I don't make isochronic tones. The frequencies in most of the videos are based on the 'Cross Reference List of Rife Frequencies'. I have no idea if they work or not, since I don't suffer from any of the diseases. The only feedback I can give, are on the frequencies I use myself, but even then, what works for me, may not work for you. If you have any questions about the videos, read this blog post: http://isochronichtones.blogspot.se/2...

IMPORTANT!
If you're suffering from any kind of "serious" medical condition, you should always get in contact with the medical profession and get a diagnosis. Alternative healthcare is not always the way to go, for some illnesses you really need professional healthcare. This is my 30 years of experience.

Binaural beats may influence functions of the brain in ways besides those related to hearing. This phenomenon is called frequency following response. The concept is that if one receives a stimulus with a frequency in the range of brain waves, the predominant brain wave frequency is said to be likely to move towards the frequency of the stimulus (a process called entrainment).

In addition, binaural beats have been credibly documented to relate to both spatial perception & stereo auditory recognition, and, according to the frequency following response, activation of various sites in the brain.

The stimulus does not have to be aural; it can also be visual or a combination of aural and visual (one such example would be Dreamachine).
Perceived human hearing is limited to the range of frequencies from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, but the frequencies of human brain waves are below about 40 Hz. To account for this lack of perception, binaural beat frequencies are used. Beat frequencies of 40 Hz have been produced in the brain with binaural sound and measured experimentally.

When the perceived beat frequency corresponds to the delta, theta, alpha, beta, or gamma range of brainwave frequencies, the brainwaves entrain to or move towards the beat frequency.

For example, if a 315 Hz sine wave is played into the right ear and a 325 Hz one into the left ear, the brain is entrained towards the beat frequency 10 Hz, in the alpha range. Since alpha range is associated with relaxation, this has a relaxing effect or if in the beta range, more alertness. An experiment with binaural sound stimulation using beat frequencies in the Beta range on some participants and Delta/Theta range in other participants, found better vigilance performance and mood in those on the awake alert state of Beta range stimulation.

Binaural beat stimulation has been used fairly extensively to induce a variety of states of consciousness, and there has been some work done in regards to the effects of these stimuli on relaxation, focus, attention, and states of consciousness.

Studies have shown that with repeated training to distinguish close frequency sounds that a plastic reorganization of the brain occurs for the trained frequencies and is capable of asymmetric hemispheric balancing.

The thalamus (from Greek θάλαμος, "inner chamber") is a midline symmetrical structure within the brains of vertebrates including humans, situated between the cerebral cortex and midbrain. Its function includes relaying sensory and motor signals to the cerebral cortex, along with the regulation of consciousness, sleep, and alertness. The thalamus surrounds the third ventricle. It is the main product of the embryonic diencephalon. Download Here: http://www.ospreymusic.bandcamp.com
