GMO Labeling Progress

Just last month, a judge in Vermont ruled that mandatory GMO labeling will stand in the state, thwarting Big Food’s efforts to undermine the law. That’s a win for the 92% of consumers who want to know what’s in their food. 

But right now, Congress is considering legislation that would undo that progress—and prevent it from taking shape in other states.

What happened in Vermont is a great reminder of what we can accomplish when we make our voices heard. But it also draws focus on what’s at stake if we don’t keep up the pressure on our legislators. We can’t afford to go backwards when it comes to transparency in the food industry.

Fight this Proposed Ban on GMO Labeling

 

With the recent classification of Monsanto’s Roundup as a carcinogen, our electeds now have the smoking gun they need to move toward GMO labeling.

We have 41,000 signatures on our joint petition with Just Label It and EWG, telling Congress that Americans oppose the DARK Act. Will you add your voice to fight this proposed ban on GMO labeling?

We now know that the dollars we spend on GMO foods contribute to the use of a weedkiller that has been shown to cause cancer.

Consumers like you and I have a right to choose what kind of farming practices we support with our purchases. We have a right to know if our food contains GMOs. 

Our petition is building momentum. But with the recent findings on Roundup, things just got more urgent.

It's time to #votefood

When it comes to their votes on food, our elected officials run the gamut between good food champions and food policy failures. Shouldn’t those key differences have an impact on how we cast our ballots Tuesday?

Help ban poisonous additives

Healthy eating, first and foremost, means eating safe food.

This country is long-overdue for new food safety regulations. That's why we're organizing to show our leaders in Congress that Americans care about issues like BPA in our food—and we vote.




Food Policy Action is fighting for new food safety standards that would keep harmful chemicals like Bisphenol A (BPA) out of our food. If we organize and make our voices heard, we can make sure Congress passes the Ban Poisonous Additives Act of 2013.

It’s also critical that we act to improve interagency cooperation on seafood safety so that we can reduce possible risks from food-borne illnesses and toxic chemicals. We need to make sure imported seafood is properly inspected and that we know every step of how it was raised and brought to our markets.
